| The formation
of the network evolved after the fair trade
colloquium in September 26th, 2005 in Cebu City.
It was initiated by SPFTC and the Advocates
for Philippine Fair Trade attended by 36 organizations
coming from small producers, academics, government
and entrepreneurs. The Network was established
in order to actualize Fair Trade in Cebu/Central
Visayas by:
The Network aims to pursue
the Consumers Awareness Campaign, specifically
raising awareness of consumers on fair trade
and promoting patronage for fair trade products.
Activities in this campaign include advocacy
on fair trade, media projection, trade fair
participation and other market access related
activities.
Other concerns of the network
is the capability building of the member organizations
specifically on product development, designing,
management skills, planning, marketing and organizational
development. The network will also undertake
development study and discussions on issues
affecting small producers and networks –
globalization, trade related issues, tax and
other development issues.
One major concern of the network
is the funding raising activity to sustain its
meetings, skills development and advocacy activities. |
·
To promote and actualize the fair trade philosophy
and principles in our business enterprises while
working for attaining changes in the lives of
the small, disadvantaged, and marginalized producers
· To
improve the livelihood and well-being of producers
by increasing market access and developing opportunities
for disadvantaged producers.
· To
implement programs that respond to the economic
and social services needs of the members
· To
actively participate in supporting the initiatives
of the different community partners in addressing
the glaring problems and related issues affecting
them thru education, advocacy, and campaign
efforts.
· To
improve their management skills and their access
to international, regional and or local markets,
both Fair trade and mainstream as appropriate.
· To
engage in Fair Trade Advocacy and promote its
Philosophy to the different sectors of society,
build linkage and partnerships, and access opportunities
that will be favorable to the fair trade network
and the small producers. |
